What is Safe Drive Stay Alive? Safe Drive Stay Alive is an innovative theatre education project, exploring the circumstances and consequences of a road traffic collision. Aimed at 16 to 18 year olds in the Thames Valley, a film of a crash in the local area has been specially prepared, with roads and hospitals familiar to local students.
As the drama unfolds and the emergency services arrive on the scene, the faces on film literally step onto stage. Pausing the film for a moment, they speak to the audience about their experiences, the reactions of the driver and passengers, the medical implications and how seeing such trauma affects them personally. Until the end, the audience is unsure which of the car's occupants will make it. Safe Drive Stay Alive was first used in Surrey to great effect. Almost four thousand pre and new drivers saw the production in a week, which included personal appearances by supporters Damon Hill and Matt Le Tissier. Members of all the emergency services stood up to describe their experiences, including those who have suffered in a crash themselves or lost family to one. The dates for 2008 are now confirmed below: 4th & 5th November - The King's Centre, Oxford There will be two shows per day at each venue. The morning session will start at 10.30am and the afternoon at 1pm. The performances are expected to last for just over one hour. If you would like to attend one of the performances, and you won't be booked in directly through your school or college you will be able to use the online booking form in due course. |
