Reed, the recruitment specialist, is fully supporting the Safe Drive Stay Alive campaign in the Thames Valley.  This is an extremely important campaign that is delivering an invaluable message to young drivers and passengers.

Reed is supporting this campaign because we believe that road safety should be a high priority – too many lives are lost on Britain’s roads. This campaign is hard hitting and we believe that it will be very effective in decreasing road traffic collisions.  Reed recognises the work that Thames Valley Police and their partner organisations are doing to increase safety on the roads, and we feel that this campaign offers an excellent opportunity to lend our support.

Reed is a leading recruitment specialist and HR services provider.  The company has been providing recruitment solutions to jobseekers and employers since 1960.  reed.co.uk is now the UK’s leading job site with over 270,000 jobs and over 2.5 million candidates registered.

DriveTech (UK) plc is a platinum sponsor of the Safe Drive Stay Alive roadshow. The company is already well known locally for operating the Speed Awareness and Driver Improvement schemes on behalf of Thames Valley Police and has got involved with the Safe Drive Stay Alive roadshow to help educate young drivers in the community about responsible and safe driving.

Chris Howell, DriveTech (UK)'s chairman and founder, said; “It's a very sad fact but 3,428 young adults (16 to 18 years of age) were killed or seriously injured on Britain's roads in 2005. That's nearly 10 young adults every day. The Safe Drive Stay Alive roadshow is a unique opportunity to meet and communicate a 'safe driving' message with young people at the start of their driving career. Its aim is to highlight the risks they, their passengers and other road users, face out on the road.

It may be unsettling to learn about the circumstances surrounding a serious road crash, but we believe that communicating the real life consequences, in an informative, sensitive and unpatronising way, will have lasting and positive effect everybody who attends the roadshow. This, in turn, will help them make better and safer driving decisions.

As part of our aim to educate all drivers in the Thames Valley about responsible and safe driving, DriveTech (UK) is proud to be associated with, and to sponsor, the Safe Drive Stay Alive roadshow.”

It is a fact that more accidents happen to young drivers in the first year after passing their tests, with one in five new motorists having some kind of an accident. But it’s not just young drivers who have accidents, they can happen to anyone. And they do: everywhere, every day – even to the most careful drivers.

Therefore the ‘Safe Drive, Stay Alive’ campaign is one that is very close to the heart of everyone at AA driving school.  Learning to drive is a skill for life and being a responsible, safe driver is essential when you are on the road. This campaign will reinforce the importance of keeping focused while on the road, and hopefully lead to that horrible ‘one in five’ statistic changing for the better.

Teaching road safety is a key element of the learning to drive programme provided by AA driving schools franchised instructors – all of them qualified to the highest possible standard.  We provided a wide range of teaching materials which not only enable them to teach people to learn to drive, but more importantly, how to become a safe and considerate road user.

a2om began with the concern that the most likely thing to cut short young lives, that are packed with potential, is a road traffic crash. That is why a2om and Safe Drive Stay Alive form a very natural partnership.

The a2om curriculum is founded on 20 years of driver behaviour research and development from leading universities. Instead of the usual 'one size fits all' approach to driving instruction, we tailor our tuition to the individual. Poor driver behaviour is the cause of 95% of car crashes: a2om's teaching is based on the belief that behaviour and attitude are as important as skills.
